Tefal FR333040 Easy Pro Deep Fat Fryer Review

Tefal is one of the most reputable companies producing deep fat fryers. The company’s products have been reigning for the past decades and consumers have continued to derive satisfaction from its line of products. One of these products is the Tefal FR333040 Easy Pro which is an elegant stainless steel deep fryer that makes sweet-tasting and succulent chips.

People are often interested in Tefal products because of their quality, and the FR333040 Easy Pro leaves up to the company’s reputation. It is packed well inside a high-quality cardboard box that is aesthetically pleasing. This fryer’s construction features brushed stainless steel with a black handle and control that gives it a measure of contrast.

Its dimensions are 20cm (in width) and 19cm (in height), without including the handle. The dimensions of the basket are 23.5cm (in length) x 15cm (in width) x 8cm (in height), and it has a food and oil capacity of 1.2kg and 3L respectively. These measurements and food capacity satisfy the FR333040 Easy Pro’s categorization as a big fryer. Additionally, all of its parts are dishwasher safe, and you don’t need to open the lid to check the progress of your cooking.

This fryer is suitable for a small family. However, this does not mean that larger families cannot use it. If you are a family of ten people or less, you can have enough servings by making 3-5 batches of fries. The whole process is fast because it takes only 15 minutes for one batch to be ready. Other than chips, you can also make tempura, prawns, and fish among other recipes.

The Verdict

Overall, our reviewer found that this is an extremely high-quality fryer. It’s wildly efficient and adaptable, as well as spacious enough to accommodate a family. Its design keeps it compact enough that its large capacity doesn’t get in the way of storage, and it’s incredibly simple to clean.

While our reviewer had a few minor gripes, a lot of them are nearly inconsequential in comparison to a number of other fryers we’ve reviewed. Here’s what our reviewer used to set the final score for this review:

  1. Ease of Use (40%)
  2. Special Features (30%)
  3. Durability and Design (30%)

And the rating? Fantastic:

Now let’s get into the nitty-gritty and actually talk about the ratings, rather than just throwing them out.

Outstanding Features of the Tefal Easy Pro Fryer

Our reviewer spent a lot of time testing out the Tefal Easy Pro. She’s tested quite a number of products for us over the years, and this was one of her favourite cooking gadgets she’s ever touched. We’ll get into exactly why in a moment, but just as a preface, she wanted remind you that it’s not the first (nor the last) deep fat fryer that she’s reviewed – so you should definitely pay attention to the following.

Adjustable Thermostat:

This is one of the essential features of a deep fryer. The absence of an adjustable thermostat in a deep fryer makes deep-frying a hassle since you cannot get the desired taste and texture in your fried foods. The temperature setting on the Tefal FR333040 Easy Pro allows you to fry from 150 °C to 190 °C, which means that you can use it to explore a wide range of recipes.

This is divided into three parts with 150°C being the lowest, 170°C the medium and 190° C being the highest. You can switch to any of the three temperature variants through the dial of a button. Once the right temperature is set, you can set the timer depending on the type of food you are deep frying. There is a temperature indicator on the unit that displays the temperature at which the machine is frying.

Quicker Heating:

This fryer is designed in a way that the heating elements are directly in contact with the oil. Therefore, it heats up the oil faster thereby saving you lots of time between warming up and cooking your food. The cooking time differs from one chef to another.

More often than not, variations in cooking time are as a result of differences in recipes, temperature settings, and browning needs. However, you should expect to get your food ready in a maximum of 16 minutes when using the lowest setting and approximately 5 minutes when using the highest temperature setting.

Removable Bowl:

The innovativeness of a fryer does not really count when considering its outstanding features. What counts is whether or not the bowl is removable and can be cleaned in a dishwasher. The bowl comes with a basket and a handle. The combination of the removable bowl, the basket, and handle form a unique feature whose presence is not obvious in a deep fryer.

Cool Zone Technology:

This is a word used by the manufacturer to describe a tech feature that lowers the temp below the heating element so that it is cool throughout the cooking period. This ensures that crumbs of food don’t get burnt resulting in a bad odour or disfiguring the unit. I consider this feature to be effective because it does not affect the nice taste or texture of your chips.

Window View:

You can monitor your cooking with the open-view window on the cooking lid, which has a metallic filter. The lid is made of stainless steel and includes both the viewing window and the black plastic handle.

There is nothing complicated in the design of this unit. It’s easy to heat up to your desired temperature, place your food in the basket, lower it into the hot oil, and allow it to cook according to a defined period. The handle doesn’t detach from the basket although it can be clasped for storage when not in use. However, all the parts are dishwasher safe, which means they are easy to clean up. The basket can take up to 5 chicken wings. Since the feet are stable and nonslip, unnecessary movements during usage will be minimal.

The fact that the FR333040 Easy Pro is a well-made, high-quality deep fryer means that you will enjoy its usage for a long time.

Pros and Cons of the Tefal FR333040 Easy Pro Fryer

  • The Tefal fryer has a temperature dial that acts as ON/OFF switch. However, it is best to unplug it after each use.
  • You can use oil or fat with it as well as other oils like vegetable oil, rapeseed oil, etc.
  • It is easy to clean and heats up very quickly. It should take around 4 minutes to reach 160° C.
  • You have the oil tank, frying basket, lid, and other internal equipment that are removable so that you can wash them with ease.
  • It is effortless to store because it is compact and small.

  • It requires a lot of oil to use which means it is not suitable for day to day use.
  • It doesn’t have a tap with which to drain your oils after usage.
  • The instruction manual that accompanies the Tefal fryer is not elaborate. Therefore, if you lack previous experience, you may not find it very useful.

Overall, our reviewer was a massive fan of this particular fryer by Tefal. It’s incredibly efficient, extremely adaptable to various methods of cooking and types of food. The size is large enough to feed a family while being small enough to store and clean up quite quickly. The added benefit of dishwasher safe parts, fast heating time, and high-quality paint that won’t wear make this a winner.

Our reviewer legitimately couldn’t find a single issue with this that wasn’t a minor gripe. Things like wishing it had interchangeable parts to change volume would be nice – but they aren’t deal-breakers. And while we listed needing a lot of oil to use it as a con, it is a deep fat fryer, meaning it’s just part of the reality of fryers. Its one actual downside is the lack of a drainage port for oil. This prevents you from draining the oil easily, meaning you’ll need to let it cool before trying to clean it.
